This was a very moving story for me. Last Thanksgiving my father was enjoying the holiday with me and so many others at my home. A few months later I was the last family member to talk to him before he was put on a ventilator. When he assured me that he loved me, I didn't know those were the last words he would ever speak. He passed away a few days later. It was February 15, 2020. My mother and sisters were there with me when he took his final breaths, opened his eyes, looked to heaven, and pass away. Writing has helped me confront the reality that he will not be here on this nor future Thanksgivings. Christmas won't be the same, either. But, I have found peace.

Thank you for sharing your story.
